Stone-built Emotions Boutique Hotel in Voutyro village

History

Family-run in Voutyro, since 1988.

Emotions Boutique Hotel is a 15-key stone hotel in Karpenisi, Evrytania, run by the Ioakim family. The hotel has been operating in the village of Voutyro since 1988; the company was restructured to a limited-liability form (Ξενοδοχειακές Επιχειρήσεις Ιωακείμ ΕΠΕ) in 2010.

How it began

In 1988, Dionysis Ioakim built an inn in Voutyro and gave it his mother's name: Pension Penelope (Ξενώνας Πηνελόπη). It was a small tribute, in stone and tile. For eight years his parents Spyros and Penelope Ioakim were there every day — until Spyros passed away in 1996. Penelope stayed the soul of the inn for years more, right up to the renovation. In 2007, after a two-year refit, the inn took the form it has today and was renamed Emotions. Improvements never quite stopped. Dionysis passed away in 2026. The business continues with his children, Spyros and Penny Ioakim, who carry the names of the grandfather and grandmother from whom it all began. Three generations, one hotel.

The 2007 renovation

The two-year refit brought stone walls, hand-painted wooden ceilings, hand-painted doors, painted ceramic tile detailing and Roumeli mansion-style ornamentation throughout. Fifteen rooms and suites in five formats — custom-made furniture in each. Marble in the bathrooms, fireplaces in the Luxury Double rooms and the Suite, the 50 m² Suite with its own private courtyard onto the fir forest. Convector heaters were installed in every room alongside the fireplaces, for faster, more efficient warmth when the snow starts.

The village

Voutyro is a stone-built mountain village within the Municipality of Karpenisi, at 840 metres on the southern flank of Velouchi. The hotel sits on the village's central paved square, beside the 1926 stone church of Aghia Paraskevi — the largest stone church in Evrytania. Eight kilometres separate the village from the Karpenisi town centre; twenty kilometres reach the Velouchi ski centre. Both sit within an easy day's circle from the door.

What we care about

Breakfast with local Evrytanian products — tsalafouti (our local PDO cheese), fir honey, homemade pastries. A fire kept burning in the café through winter. When you need a recommendation for a meal or a walk, ask at reception — we won't send you to tourist spots, we'll point you where we go: Bostani across the square, 825 next door.

Today

The hotel operates four-season under the Ioakim family. Recognised as a Greek Tourism Organisation 3-key boutique establishment (operating licence 1352Κ113Κ0204000), it carries a 9.5/10 score on Booking.com (180 reviews), 4.9/5 on Google (306 reviews) and 4.7/5 on TripAdvisor (95 reviews). In 2026 the trading name was refreshed from 'Emotions Country Resort' to 'Emotions Boutique Hotel — Karpenisi' — same family, same stones, more accurate name.
